Longtime Arizona lawmaker Carolyn Allen died over the weekend at the age of 78. She served in the legislature for 16 years, retiring from the state Senate in 2010. Allen represented Scottsdale and was well known for being extremely straightforward with her views.

The former chairman of the Tohono O'odham Nation has died. The death of Augustine B. Lopez Sr. was announced Friday by his southern Arizona Tribe. Neither Lopez’s age nor cause of death was released, but a short bio was made public by tribal officials.

Eddie Basha, the CEO and Chairman of the Bashas' family-owned grocery store chain in Arizona died yesterday. Basha's family said he had been ill for some time. Basha was an Arizona Board of Regent member for several years and also ran for governor.
