Arizona’s average gas price is just more than $2 a gallon and the national average isn’t much higher than that.

Those dropping prices have led some in Congress to call for increasing the federal gas tax for the first time in more than two decades. The federal tax currently stands at a little more than 18 cents. Arizona’s gas tax is about the same.
