On average, 93 Arizonans died of alcohol poisoning each year between 2010 and 2012, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The state’s rate of almost 19 such deaths per million residents was the fourth worst in the country over that time. Nationally, six Americans died on average each day from alcohol poisoning.
Dr. Robert Brewer leads the CDC’s Alcohol Program. He said that’s a shocking number of deaths tied directly to high-volume binge drinking.
