On March 14, the Arizona Senate passed a charter school reform and oversight bill sponsored State Sen. Kate Brophy McGee. The bill targeted charter rules, the first attempted since 1994.

But Monday, House Speaker Rusty Bowers put the brakes on that effort, saying it lacked, quote, “accountability and transparency” and the was bill riddled with “partisan gamesmanship.”
