The Phoenix-area Muslim community was rocked last week when a video of two women vandalizing a local mosque went viral.

Tahnee Gonzales and Elizabeth Dauenhauer broadcast themselves online going into the Islamic Community Center of Tempe. They took brochures and pamphlets to stop the spread of what they called “propaganda.”

Parts of that video appeared on a video from the Huffington Post.

EDITOR's NOTE: Some viewers may find the following video offensive.

Tempe police arrested the women on charges of burglary and said that it could be considered a hate crime at sentencing.

This past weekend, the mosque held a community event to bring together allies from all faiths in solidarity. But, where does the conversation go from here?

The video really hit a nerve, largely because the women were accompanied by three young children who were encouraged to repeat hateful language about Muslims.

The Show wanted to find out more about the community’s reaction to this video and how we teach hate — and tolerance — in our society.

Rebecca White, associate professor at ASU who studies parent socialization and how parents in non-marginalized groups can work to fight racism, and Shayna Stevens, who is a board member for the Arizona chapter of CAIR, the Council for American Islamic Relations, joined the conversation.
