Banned-Books Week Brings Awareness To The Dangers Of Censorship
Since 1982, the last full week of September has been recognized as banned-books week. Advocates across the country use the week as a way to highlight texts that have been banned or challenged.
While those that seek to ban books argue there are certain texts that should be kept away from children, groups like the American Booksellers Association say book banning is a dangerous practice that censors information and suppresses Free Speech.
