The chancellor of the Maricopa County Community College District is reviewing recommendations for potential changes to the district’s athletic programs.

Those recommendations have already caused some concern, especially when it comes to the future of the football teams.

I spoke with Paul Dale about this. He’s interim executive vice chancellor and provost for the Maricopa County Community College District.

Dale will be taking input on the recommendations, and the next part of the decision-making process could be made this fall.

In a statement, the National Junior College Athletic Association’s executive director says, in part, “In today’s world, where success and retention is a driving force behind funding, programs that require full-time attendance should be growing not facing elimination.”
