BLM Approves Last Piece Of Valley-Wide APS Transmission Line

Published: Thursday, April 27, 2017 - 5:05am

The Bureau of Land Management has approved the last piece of a new Valley-wide transmission line.

Annie DeGraw with Arizona Public Service says the line will provide greater reliability to growing parts of the Valley.

“It also allows us more access to a regional power market. So, this regional power market allows us to have the most affordable energy available for our customers,” DeGraw said.

The Morgan to Sun Valley transmission line runs about 38 miles. It extends from the Sun Valley Substation past Lake Pleasant. DeGraw says APS has been working with residents and public entities for about four years to make it a reality.

A few environmental and engineering adjustments were made. Construction will begin this year. DeGraw says the line is expected to begin operating service in the spring of 2018.
