Thousands Sign Up For Alzheimer's Research Study
Researchers studying Alzheimer’s disease in Arizona recently celebrated a milestone — 40,000 people had signed up to take part in research studies. The Alzheimer’s Prevention Registry is run through Banner Alzheimer’s Institute.
Jessica Langbaum is it’s principal scientist. She said volunteers are critical to finding treatments for diseases like Alzheimer’s.
The project at Banner Alzheimer’s Institute is one of several research projects going on to try to find a treatment or cure for the disease. Suzette Armijo has signed up to take part in a couple such programs. She works in senior care at the Beatitudes Campus in Phoenix, but has another reason to join the studies.
Armijo said she hasn’t been called on yet, but likes the fact that researchers know how to reach her if they need her.
