Nationwide, police departments are not doing a good enough job of protecting civil rights, as they relate to body cameras.

That’s the analysis from a scorecard released Tuesday by the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights – a coalition of more than 200 civil rights groups.

Three Arizona agencies made the list: Phoenix, Mesa and Tucson. None fared all that well.

"What we're finding is that many departments aren't offering the basic civil rights protections and privacy protections needed to make sure these are used as tools of accountability," said Scott Simpson, the coalition’s media and campaigns director.

KJZZ reached out to the Phoenix Police Department for its reaction to the report, but as of Tuesday afternoon, have not heard back.
