The KidsCare program in Arizona has had an enrollment freeze in place since 2010.

Arizona is the only state without an active State Children’s Health Insurance program, or CHIP. It provides health insurance to kids in families making up to $40,000 a year for a family of three. This afternoon, the House Health Committee is debating House Bill 2309, which would lift the enrollment cap on KidsCare, using, at least at the start, federal money.

Representative Kate Brophy McGee is one of the measure’s sponsors. She spoke about the issue.
