A couple of summers ago, a number of Southwest communities — including the Valley — were impacted by an influx of undocumented immigrant children from Central America.

Those kids ended up in Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities. Many found themselves with restrictions in the United States and without knowledge of basic things, such as the English language.

Sherry Jones, director of the Phoenix Dream Center Living Youth Program, spoke about the issue. The Dream Center recently began accepting undocumented teens.
