How Much Standardized Testing Is Too Much?

President Obama recently called for a cap on standardized testing, saying students shouldn’t spend more than 2 percent of their time in the classroom taking such tests.
How significant of a reduction would that be? Audrey Amrein-Beardsley, an associate professor in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers’ College at Arizona State University explained the issue. She’s been studying standardized testing for nearly two decades.
