The Arizona Board of Regents Friday approved merit bonuses for the presidents of the state’s three public universities.

Arizona State University's Michael Crow and the University of Arizona’s Ann Weaver Hart each received six-figure bonuses. The bonuses were among the items on the board’s two-day agenda in Flagstaff.

Anne Ryman, a senior reporter at the Arizona Republic who covers higher education, explained the new bonuses.
