More young women today seem to be making a relatively controversial choice: They’ve stopped shaving their armpits, often their legs, too.

You might ask, why would they do such a thing? But, feminist scholar Breanne Fahs says the better question is: Why do so many choose to?

Fahs has studied a lot of controversial things in her career, but she told The Show, nothing has sparked the kind of outrage that women refusing to shave their body hair has.

In her book "Unshaved: Resistance and Revolution in Women’s Body Hair Politics," Fahs traces the history of body hair, including the rise of companies like Gillette that encouraged women to buy their products to take it all off and looks at growing body hair as a form of rebellion.

The Show spoke with her about it all.
