Rio Verde Foothills residents have been in search of water service ever since neighboring Scottsdale turned off the taps at the start of the year.

Water will resume flowing to the unincorporated community Monday morning.

In June, state leaders passed an emergency measure to ensure a short-term supply and create a local agency — the Rio Verde Foothills Standpipe District — to represent the community’s interests.

The district has been working with a private utility, EPCOR, to secure water that would be delivered by the city of Scottsdale.

District president Meredith DeAngelis announced Friday that water haulers will be able to draw from a standpipe owned by Scottsdale, beginning at 7 a.m. Monday.

Rio Verde Foothills is continuing to work with EPCOR on a long-term solution, featuring a permanent standpipe — a project currently under review by the Arizona Corporation Commission.
