Phoenix is not the only Valley city grappling with how to deal with homelessness. A program in Scottsdale has recently become a lightning rod of sorts.

Arizona Rep. Matt Gress, a Republican representing parts of Phoenix and Scottsdale, held a hearing late last month focused on a hotel near Pima and Indian Bend Roads.

Under an agreement with the city, about 10 rooms have been used to house people experiencing homelessness while they got help finding more stable housing. However, in August, Gress announced those rooms would no longer be used by people from "The Zone" or those who would have been deported under Title 42, which expired earlier this year.

While the city defended the program during the hearing, Gress and other critics questioned its effectiveness.

Gress spoke with The Show more about this and we asked about his concerns with what Scottsdale has been doing.
