Libraries across AZ will receive over a half-million dollars in grants
Arizona libraries in all 15 counties will receive a share of $530,000.
The funds come from the state’s Library Grants-in-Aid program.
Each county will receive $25,000, according to a release by Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, whose office oversees the grant process.
"Municipal libraries in cities with 100,000 or more people will also receive varying amounts based on relative population," Fontes said.
The money can be used for purchasing books, staff training, technology, construction and workshops for the public, among other things," according to the release.
In total, $651,400 was appropriated by the Legislature. The allocation also helps to ensure a “maintenance of effort” required to obtain Arizona’s share of federal library funds.
