FBI interviews Rusty Bowers in 2020 election probe
Former Arizona lawmaker Rusty Bowers revealed on CNN on Wednesday that he was interviewed by the FBI as part of a criminal investigation looking into efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
Bowers, who was Arizona's speaker of the House during the 2020 election, said FBI investigators asked him about phone calls in which former President Donald Trump pressured him to interfere with Arizona’s election results.
But Bowers said he has already described the details of those calls in media interviews and Congressional hearings.
"I offered them nothing new," Bowers told CNN's Kaitlan Collins. "They were very aware of the Jan. 6 Committee testimony that I gave. There may have been something that I said that was of interest, but I don’t remember anything standing out that I said that had not been mentioned before."
Bowers said he spoke with FBI investigators about three months ago.
The Arizona Secretary of State’s Office has also reportedly been subpoenaed in the ongoing probe.
