Eduardo “Lalo” García is one of Mexico’s most celebrated chefs. His restaurant, Máximo Bistrot, in Mexico City has been named the best international restaurant by Food & Wine magazine and was named one of the 50 best restaurants in the world

But, García began far from international fame. In fact, he began as a migrant farmworker in fields across America, working under harsh conditions for little pay. And, his path to the top of the food world took many unexpected twists and turns.

Laura Tillman documents it all in her new biography of Garcia, "The Migrant Chef: The Life and Times of Lalo García." The Show spoke with her about the book and Garcia’s story.
