Allergy season heads into overdrive for many in the Valley

Many Valley residents are sneezing and sniffing as springtime allergies head into overdrive. Winter rains and blowing dust are largely to blame.

Linnea Axman is an associate dean in the College of Nursing at the University of Arizona in Phoenix.

"Even if you don’t have a lawn, even if you have gravel in your yard, you probably have weeds, and the weeds are blooming and they’re growing really well," Axman said. "We’ve also had a lot more wind this year than normal."

To tamp down allergies, Axman suggests putting a filter on your heating and cooling system, taking a 24-hour antihistamine pill and using saline nasal sprays.
