Parents with disabilities often face challenges accessing resources and support. Now several local disability groups are asking these parents to participate in a survey to hopefully change this.

According to the National Council on Disability, there are more than 4 million parents with disabilities in the U.S. Yet resources and support for these parents, including those in Arizona, is in short supply, according to April Reed of Ability 360, a local disability advocacy organization.

"We’ve heard everything from, 'I couldn’t get information about a wheelchair accessible crib when I was pregnant, I struggled to find that information,' to simply people wanting to talk to somebody else who’s been a parent, and now what that journey is like, but also understands what it’s like to be  a person with a disability," said Reed.

Ability 360 is asking parents with disabilities to participate in a survey so they can better understand what’s lacking and what is needed.

People with disabilities who want to become pregnant or be a parent are invited to take the survey by April 30 by visiting ability360.org/parenting.
