More than a dozen complaints have been filed with the State Bar of Arizona against former Attorney General Mark Brnovich, including one from the governor.

A spokesman for the State Bar confirmed the number of complaints related to reports that Brnovich, a Republican, concealed records debunking election fraud claims while in office, is up to 16.

One such complaint was filed by Gov. Katie Hobbs, a Democrat.

It’s the second complaint Hobbs has lodged against Brnovich in the past few years. In 2020, Hobbs — then Arizona’s secretary of state — filed an ethics complaint alleging the attorney general failed to properly represent the Secretary of State’s Office and mishandled election-related lawsuits.

Brnovich later entered into diversion agreements with the State Bar, the terms of which are confidential. But doing so allowed him to avoid discipline from the Bar as long as the terms of the diversion agreement were met.

Hobbs isn’t the only top elected official calling for the State Bar to hold Brnovich accountable. Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, a Democrat, has called for Brnovich to be disbarred.
