Incumbent Democrat Kathy Hoffman and Republican challenger Tom Horne are running for the Arizona superintendent of Public Instruction.

Democrat Kathy Hoffman has conceded the race for Arizona superintendent of public instruction to Republican Tom Horne.

According to the Associated Press, the race remains too close to call.

But Horne has held a steady lead over Hoffman for several days now… As of Thursday morning, Hoffman trailed by nearly 9 thousand votes… and there are fewer than 20 thousand votes left to count across the state.

Hoffman was the incumbent in the race, but won’t get to serve a second term.

But Horne is no stranger to the role.

He served as superintendent from 2003 to 2011, and then served one term as Arizona’s attorney general.
