Tempe proposes $250 permit for short-term rentals, other rules

Published: Monday, November 14, 2022 - 8:50am

The city of Tempe is asking for public feedback on proposed additional new regulations for short-term rentals beginning with a virtual event Monday.

The city is one of several municipalities across the state desiring a move toward such new requirements.

These changes include owners needing to get an annual $250 regulatory permit and registering with the Maricopa County Assessor’s Office.

Currently, short-term rentals are regulated by the state, but a new law that took effect in September allows cities to implement new requirements.

Residents can provide their views on the proposed new regulations at two in-person public hearings in December and January or take an online survey on the Tempe government website through Nov. 30.
