The federal government is poisoning a species of fish in an effort to save another one.

The small-mouthed bass have been increasing their population in the Colorado River around the Grand Canyon, but that species is a threat to the humpback chub, which is listed as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act. So officials are moving to get rid of the bass to protect the humpback chub.

Taylor McKinnon is a senior advocate at the Center for Biological Diversity. The Show spoke with him to learn how we got to this point, where one type of fish needs to be eliminated to save another.
