Electric vehicle rides, charging stations and more at Tempe expo Friday

Published: Wednesday, July 27, 2022 - 2:38pm

The latest electric vehicles will be on display at Tempe’s Center for the Arts this Friday as the city tries to increase EV awareness, interest and use.

Visitors to Tempe’s EV Expo can take a ride in an electric vehicle, learn how charging stations work and hear about financial incentives to buy.

Electrification supporters say companies can reduce emissions and maintenance from their fleets while attracting employees and consumers committed to sustainability.

Tempe is also considering changes to city codes that would make new buildings EV-friendly.

A survey on the proposed changes will be online July 28 and the city will hold two public meetings on Aug. 23. The first meeting will be held virtually at noon and a link will be provided at tempe.gov/ElectricTempe closer to the date. The other meeting will take place in-person at Tempe Public Library, 3500 S. Rural Road at 6 p.m.
