Honeywell to lay off 133 employees when Phoenix-area plant closes

Published: Thursday, July 21, 2022 - 4:12pm

More than a hundred people will lose their jobs after Honeywell closes an assembly plant in the West Valley.

In a company video, Honeywell Intelligrated touts its role in helping retailers and manufacturers deliver goods through warehouse automation, robotics, and software.

The narrator says, “It’s in distribution centers where you’ll experience the full breadth of Honeywell Intelligrated’s expertise. That product order is one of thousands that move in carefully orchestrated patterns.”

But 133 people who work on those systems will be out of work after Honeywell closes its Buckeye facility at 4570 W. Lower Buckeye Road.

In a statement to KJZZ News, the company did not explain why the assembly plant will close but said it was not a decision made lightly.

“We appreciate the hard work and dedication these employees have shown in their time here. Honeywell will offer severance and outplacement services to support eligible affected employees who continue to meet all standards and work through their exit date."

In 2016, Honeywell acquired Intelligrated, a material handling automation company, for $1.5 billion.
