Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey famously sent former President Donald Trump’s call to voicemail while he was signing papers certifying now-President Joe Biden’s victory in Arizona in the 2020 election. And since, the contentious relationship between the two has only gotten worse.

Now, as Trump plans a rally in Arizona this weekend to bolster Republican candidate Kari Lake’s run to replace Ducey, the governor has backed one of her opponents, Karrin Taylor Robson. The race — and their backers — puts the 2020 election at the center of the 2022 race yet again, and Alex Isenstadt says it’s happening in similar races all over the country.

Isenstadt is a reporter for Politico who’s been covering this proxy war; The Show spoke with him to learn how Trump and the 2020 election are still impacting politics.
