Representatives from a national nonprofit group came to the Valley Sunday to donate musical instruments and equipment to Harmony Project Phoenix.

Sarah Leavitt, vice president of strategy and impact with Can’d Aid, said in addition to the donations the event featured a viral pop rock band.

“We’re donating a variety of instruments, PAs, speakers, cymbals, drums — all sorts of different stuff. We also have a band called Waterparks who is coming in to play some music and talk about what it’s like to be a professional musician,” she said.

According to their mission statement, Harmony Project Phoenix conducts free youth music classes to increase access to higher education for underserved students.
