Major League Baseball has announced the World Baseball Classic will return in 2023 after a six-year hiatus. Phoenix is one of the host cities for the international tournament.

Chase Field will play host to one group in the tournament’s first round. The group includes the defending champion U.S., as well as Mexico, Canada, Colombia, and a team to be named later. Those games will be played from March 11-15. The tournament’s championship will be held March 21 in Miami.

Phoenix last hosted first round WBC games in 2013. Arizona Diamondbacks President Derrick Hall recalled the fan atmosphere from that tournament, saying in a statement he is “confident their pride and passion will be on display for the world to see once again.”

Miami will be the other stateside host for the first round, with runner-up Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Israel, Dominican Republic and another team to be named later playing their group games at loanDepot Park.
