Workers at a Starbucks location in Tucson are voting on whether to unionize Wednesday.

If the vote is approved, the Euclid and University shop would join more than 170 other stores in the United States that have approved unionization.

Bill Whitmire is a Starbucks shift lead in Phoenix and part of the Starbucks Workers United Union Drive. He says the push for unionization has come from workers wanting better wages, scheduling and health care.

“There are partners in this movement that have been with Starbucks for 10 years that have been trying to do that, but we’re not really partners. Starbucks calls us partners but we’re not treated like true partners because management won’t negotiate," Whitmire said.

The votes will be counted at 2 p.m.
