The tragic shootings at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, have led to renewed calls for congressional and legislative action on gun reform–including background checks.

Arizona lawmakers discussed the issue earlier this week, but any possible movement is likely to be stopped in its tracks by Republican majorities in the House and Senate. One proposal by Sen. Martín Quezada isn’t even expected to be granted a hearing by Judiciary Committee chair Warren Petersen.

That is just one of a few significant items being talked about at the state Capitol.

To learn about that and what else is going on, The Show spoke with Mary Jo Pitzl of the Arizona Republic.
