The Show regularly checks in with the editorial board of the Arizona Republic to talk about current issues facing the state and the region — featured in columns on the newspaper’s op-ed pages.

Parental involvement in schools and how their children are taught has been increasingly highlighted during the pandemic, as many students were learning from home or via a hybrid model. Another development that has surfaced over that same period of time is the teaching of so-called critical race theory.

Some believe the concept is a way to tell students about our nation's racial history, while opponents say it's a method of assigning blame and making students feel responsible for racist acts of previous generations.

Sunday's Republic featured arguments on both sides from educational consultant Rhonda Cagle and state Rep. Michelle Udall.

The Show spoke with Phil Boas of the Republic to learn about the columns.
