ASU lecturer says the Jan. 6 display of white nationalism is linked to the Cold War
The disturbing events of Jan. 6, 2021 and the attempted insurrection at the U.S. Capitol were reintroduced vividly to our minds last week as the first anniversary was marked.
As more than a year has passed, writers and researchers of many interests and disciplines have tried to explore why it happened and who the participants were.
One scholar, Arizona State University lecturer Terry Shoemaker, asserts there is a deep connection between what happened between the U.S. and the the former Soviet Union over the decades of the Cold War and the enthusiasm of at least some of the Jan. 6 participants.
The Show spoke with Shoemaker to learn when he first made a connection between the Cold War and the events of Jan. 6.
