During the pandemic, one Arizona tribe has remained on lockdown and has kept the virus at bay, and it has announced that the lockdown will continue.

The Havasupai tribe lives in a tiny village inside the Grand Canyon.

Their primary source of income is tourism — the visitors who come to see Havasu Falls and other attractions.

When the pandemic hit, the Havasupai Tribal Council acted immediately.

Since then visitors have been barred from entering the canyon.

The council recently voted to continue the lockdown at least until June 1.

It cited variants of the virus, which are not well understood at this time.
