The Arizona Board of Regents is asking the state bar to investigate Attorney General Mark Brnovich.

In a complaint, the board’s chairman Larry Penley accused Brnovich of actively criticizing and filing lawsuits against the regents after representing them in other cases.

Brnovich has disqualified himself from arguing a case against the Regents and Arizona State University based on the complaint.

In the filing, Penley contends Brnovich has made a media campaign against the state’s public universities without consenting with the board despite representing them in other pending lawsuits.

Secretary of State Katie Hobbs made a similar filing, arguing he withdrew from representing her in a lawsuit after receiving confidential information. Her complaint claims Brnovich then represented a different party in the litigation.
