With 2022 just around the corner, politicians up for re-election are considering their chances in the November midterm elections.

Tempe pollster Mike O’Neil says if the Build Back Better plan is not passed in early 2022, it may damage public perception of Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema, among other Democrats.

“If this stuff all passes and she’s a part of it, then bygones will be bygones and she’ll be fine with everybody, but if it doesn’t and she comes across as to blame, there could be bloodletting within the Democratic Party, and she could pay a price in the primary,” said O’Neil.

President Biden has been in negotiations with both Sinema and West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin to garner their support for the bill, but says Democrats will be focusing on passing the bill “in the days and weeks ahead,” appearing to acknowledge that the bill may not get passed this year.
