Last July, Sens. Amy Klobuchar, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins and Arizona’s Kyrsten Sinema introduced a bill that would honor trailblazers of the Supreme Court — Justices Sandra Day O’Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The bill passed unanimously Dec. 13, and now statues of the women will be placed in the U.S. Capitol to join other women who helped shape America.

A provision of the bill requires the Joint Committee of Congress on the Library to select the sculptors from underrepresented demographic groups.

There are currently 266 statues of notable Americans in the Capitol, but just 14 of them are women.
