Parks Rest Area is located 25 minutes west of Flagstaff and just west of Bellemont on Interstate 40.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey and the Arizona Department of Transportation are planning to reopen two previously closed rest areas for truckers to stop and rest while traveling through Arizona.

The reopening of Parks Rest Area and and Christiansen Rest Area comes with the busy holiday season and the national supply chain crisis, having many truckers out on the road.

The rest areas are located off of Interstate 40 west of Flagstaff, just west of Bellemont, and on Interstate 17, just north of Munds Park. Both routes are two heavily traveled corridors for commercial traffic.

“It's just something to help the truckers who are so busy right now especially during this time of year and with the supply chain issues, they are working so hard, increasing the opportunities for them to have a rest area was deemed the appropriate thing to do.," said Doug Nick is the spokesman for the Arizona Motor Vehicle Department.

Ducey also issued an executive order to provide regulatory relief for the truck industry by aligning commercial driving requirements with current federal waivers.
