The parties in an ongoing prison health care lawsuit have agreed to a schedule ahead of a pending trial this fall. 

In 2015, the Arizona Department of Corrections sought to avoid a trial by agreeing to a set of more than 100 court-ordered benchmarks.

The settlement was certified by a federal judge, and the Department of Corrections said it would improve overall health care conditions in the 10 state-run prisons.

After six years of failing to meet those benchmarks, U.S. District Court Judge Roslyn Silver rescinded the settlement and ordered a trial.

Attorneys for the prisoners and Department of Corrections alerted the court on Monday they agreed to a pre-trial schedule.

Tours of the prisons will start next month. The discovery process will begin in September and depositions will take place in October. The trial will begin in November with exact dates yet to be determined.
