Chris Paul, Devin Booker Storylines Make The Phoenix Suns' NBA Finals Run Magical
For only the third time in franchise history, the Phoenix Suns are heading to the NBA Finals where they hope to win it all for the first time. And It’s been a postseason already filled with some terrific storylines.
The Suns are the first team to reach the NBA Finals after missing the playoffs for a decade or more.
Superstar shooting guard Devin Booker quickly went from the basement to the penthouse — and with a broken nose along the way.
"It’s been a long time coming," Booker said. "We’ve seen the bottom — the bottom of the bottom for multiple years. Just keeping my head down, waiting this moment right here."
Veteran point guard Chris Paul was on a "don’t lose mission," coming through again with 41 points in the clincher on Wednesday night in Los Angeles. Paul has waited 16 years for this, battling through injuries and health protocols this postseason.
"They won two games in this series without me. Just shows you how crazy it is," Paul said. "First series, [I] got the nerve thing. [We] win the second series, [I] end up with COVID. It’s been a lot man, and I want it — not just for myself, but for everyone in that locker room."
The Suns will face either the Atlanta Hawks or Milwaukee Bucks. Thursday night, the Bucks took a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference finals.
Depending on how quickly that series wraps, the NBA Finals will open in Phoenix on either Tuesday, July 6, or Thursday, July 8.
