Arizona Department Of Education To Form Task Force On How To Spend COVID-19 Relief Funds
The Arizona Department of Education is forming a task force made up of leaders from across the state that will help it decide how to spend discretionary funds it’s receiving from the American Rescue Plan.
The funds will support statewide activities and interventions for the next two school years to address students’ academic, social and emotional needs as well as the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on underrepresented student, the department said.
“Bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders from our education community is critical to ensuring these funds support equitable and strategic investments in our public schools, educators, and the students they serve,” said state Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman. “To that end, over eighty education, philanthropic, and community-based organization leaders and educators have been invited to participate in this work.”
The task force plans to complete this work by mid-July.
