There was a sharp increase in the amount of coronavirus cases and deaths reported around Arizona April 16. The state Department of Health Services added 845 new infections and 30 fatalities, about double what was reported April 15.

Nick Harper and Alison Daniels started doing weekly porch concerts after the coronavirus pandemic hit, dubbing their unconventional venue as "528 Live."

Even though most pandemic restrictions on businesses and gatherings have now been lifted in Arizona, there are a few socially distanced, coronavirus-era workarounds some people wanted to keep.

Alison Daniels and Nick Harper live in Phoenix’s Willo neighborhood. When Arizona shut down last year, they started hosting live concerts on their front porch. They said it was a safe way to bring their neighbors together and to support local artists.

It became a weekly event called 528 Live, and they hoped it would continue.

But Phoenix police shut the concerts down last weekend.

The Show spoke with Harper and Daniels about their reactions to this move.
