The pandemic’s impact over the last year or so has been unsettling and uncomfortable for almost everyone. And for a certain group of us, the word “disaster” might be the best descriptor. But disasters don’t just emerge because of global uncertainty. Sometimes, they’re a part of navigating our everyday challenges.

In her new book "Processed Meats: Essays on Food, Flesh, and Navigating Disaster," Flagstaff-based writer Nicole Walker opens up her personal life to explore — in part — how we exist as individuals and communities.

The Show spoke with Walker for more about her work.
