Arizona’s unemployment figures for December have been revised by the state’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Doug Walls, the state’s labor market information director, says the end of 2020 showed less unemployment than previously recorded.

“The unemployment rate that was previously reported for December was at 7.8 percent actually was revised downward to 6.8 percent, so we saw the unemployment rate we ended the year on in 2020 was actually lower than first reported," said Walls.

He also said January showed an atypical increase in bar and restaurant employment of about 1,000 job gains but he also illustrated those will be offset by seasonal temporary work that falls off in retail and warehousing sectors.
