Kingman officials do not yet know if cyber criminals got access to sensitive information through an online attack almost two weeks ago.

The city hopes that nearly all staff can have email access again by early next week.

A city spokesperson said Kingman never lost control of its network, the extent of the cyberattack is still unclear, and a price tag for the damage has not been calculated.

The cost of cyberattacks can be adding how long it takes to recover data with how long it takes staff to make sure the backup was not infected, said Dr. Jon Haass, professor of cyber intelligence and security at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott.

“The biggest challenge is did they have a good backup of their systems and how long ago was their good backup (made),” he said.

Kingman officials still don’t know how long it will take to fix work functions, specialized software and certain files.
