Many of us have family members who served during World War II — or other wars before and after that epic period.
In some cases, there was a lot of digging for information or trying to get the aunt or grandfather to tell stories of the experiences. Sometimes, tales were forthcoming; many times, they were not.
In his new book "All Jake on the Western Front," longtime Arizona journalist Michael Kiefer combines fiction and nonfiction as a trio of narrators guide us through the World War I battles and love of Webster Major “Jake” Brown — based, to some extent, on Kiefer’s own relatives.
