ASU Education Consortium Aims To Educate, Train Kids In Cybersecurity

Earlier this month, a major cyberattack was carried out that hit U.S. government agencies — along with companies and businesses.

And in the lead-up to November’s election, there was significant attention paid to how voting machines and voter information would be protected as bad actors from other nations were working to try to disrupt the outcome.

It’s into this environment that Arizona State University's Cybersecurity Education Consortium has stepped in the effort to train kids as young as middle school-age in cybersecurity. Estimates indicate the country has several hundred thousand unfilled jobs in the realm of cybersecurity.

To learn about how to get young people interested in this field, The Show spoke with Trista Zobitz, project coordinator for the consortium.
