In all, more than 383,000 Arizonans could receive their first shot in December 2020.

As the first phase of COVID-19 vaccinations has started in Arizona, public health officials have been talking about starting to turn the corner on the pandemic, although as many of those same officials say, it’s a long corner to get around.

And most parts of the state likely won’t have enough vaccine for the general public to reach herd immunity until late spring or early summer. But even with that timeline, businesses and their employees are starting to think about, and ask about whether employers could mandate their employees get a COVID-19 vaccine.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission late last week issued some guidelines about this.

And with The Show to talk about some of the legal issues surrounding the idea of mandatory vaccinations is James Hodge, a professor of Law at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University.
